As a first concrete step in providing continued care, ACT is in the process of setting up a charity village in a nine-acre plot in Palakkad, Kerala, India, (Nearest airports are Kozhikode Kerala, Coimbatore Tamilnadu), as a home to young orphans and the elderly who are rejected as superfluous by society. In addition, girls rescued from forced prostitution would be given formal training in geriatric nursing which would enable them to care for the older residents of the village. This, it is hoped, would rehabilitate them by providing a locus for them to restore dignity and self esteem to an otherwise disheartening future. ACT's emphasis would be on extending a helping hand to effect upliftment through self-empowerment.

The proposed Ammucare village, to be built on the lines of a hermitage, will focus on the all round development of its young residents and ensure total care for the senior members. ACT's emphasis on 'over-all' development has as its rationale the conviction that a humane nurturing and right guidance can turn the bleakest instance into an opportune beginning to chart out a better tomorrow for these children maimed by the callousness and indifference of society at large.

The village would have proximity to the nearest city, Palakkad and is intended to house about 200 people. To meet the needs of its residents and to help them grow into self-reliant adults, the village will have

educational facilities such as a library, computer centre and would impart vocational skills in carpentry, tailoring, masonry etc. Instilling overall well being in growing children and rehabilitating the socially ostracised being the primary goals of the mission at hand, an encouraging and therapeutic setting can also be of crucial importance. Hence, the village is envisaged as a sanctuary or a hermitage, the buildings of which would merge into its verdant and lush milieu. As part of our holistic approach, residents are assured of proper medical facilities, inclusive of Ayurvedic and Homeopathic clinics offering alternative remedies and indigenous therapies. To garner and ensure local support, the villagers around the enclave would be offered access to ACT's medical facilities and ambulance service. The serene ambience of the village is to be enhanced by an effective use of the in-house Yoga and meditation centres, and prayer halls. Additionally, recreation centres and sports facilities are to be set up to foster healthy physical well-being. The development of the village is to be done in a phasal manner, even as efforts would be made to open up/ initiate proceedings to start similar villages in different locations, once the current one is successfully established. Eventually, ACT may, if required, support resourceful efforts to undertake related/similar ventures by even non ACT members, provided that they agree to ACT's guidelines.
